Organization Works To Promote Long Island & Encourage
New Business Growth In Tech Sector
Farmingdale, NY – This summer, representatives from Route 110 Redevelopment Corporation traveled to Philadelphia, PA to promote the Route 110 Corridor as a hub of technology and recruit new businesses to Long Island. Over 20,000 people were in attendance at “Bio 2005,” the largest annual biotech conference in the world.
More than 1,000 displays and exhibits from around the world were housed in the huge exhibit hall. Thirty-one countries and 40 U.S. states were represented as exhibitors.
“Although a New York State and specifically Long Island presence was felt at “Bio 2005,” more remains to be done by the region in order to be seen as one of the leading biotechnology ‘cluster’ areas of the country,” remarked Donald J. Middleton, Executive Director for Route 110 Redevelopment Corporation. “Long Island should and could become the fifth major biotechnology region in the nation – all we need is the resources and the resolve.”
One organization that made its presence felt at “Bio 2005” was the Long Island Partnership and its Executive Director Michael Watt. The Long Island Partnership exhibit booth was staffed by Watt personally and drew major interest from conference attendees. With Long Island Partnership hosting a booth at “Bio 2005,” awareness of Long Island as a destination for the biotech sector became greater regionally, nationally and internationally as well.
